Incompetent Trump is SCUM and he is to blame for 67 deaths!
Wednesday night’s tragic air collision in Washington, D.C. that killed all 67 on both planes is the most serious air disaster involving a commercial jet since 2009, and it happened on Trump's watch! Trump is fully to blame!
Trump began purging competent federal workers as soon as he took office, accusing them of having been poisoned by “Marxism,” or diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. That same day, Trump froze the hiring of all federal employees, including air traffic controllers, although the U.S. Department of Transportation warned in June 2023 that 77% of air traffic control facilities critical to daily operations of the airline industry were short staffed. The next day, January 21, Trump fired Transportation Security Administration (TSA) chief David Pekoske, and administration officials removed all the members of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee, which Congress created after the 1988 PanAm 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland. The Trump administration vacated the positions with an eye to “eliminating the misuse of resources.” Other vacant positions at the FAA, according to CNN’s Alexandra Skores, are “the deputy administrator, an associate administrator of airports, an associate administrator for security and hazardous materials safety, chief counsel, assistant administrator of communications, assistant administrator of government and industry affairs, and assistant administrator for policy, international affairs, and environment.”
Sydney Ember and Emily Steel of the New York Times reported that staffing at Ronald Reagan National Airport outside Washington, D.C., was “not normal” at the time of the crash, with one air traffic controller doing the work usually assigned to two. This happened on Trump's watch!
Trump, predictably, is trying to blame everyone else, including diversity hiring and the Democrats.
Republicans started spreading a lie that the military helicopter that crashed into American Eagle Flight 5342 was being piloted by a transgender woman as part of a larger effort on the right to blame the tragedy on historically oppressed minorities, even in the absence of any facts to back that narrative. The false rumor that a trans woman is behind the crash fits with the far-right’s attacks on transgender people serving in the military. Earlier this week, Trump signed an executive order banning transgender people from serving openly in the military, an order that could get 8,000 to 15,000 service members discharged. Trump thinks that if he lies enough, his lies will become fact. They won't!

Pete Buttigieg, the Secretary of the Department of Transportation under President Biden, posted: “Despicable. As families grieve, Trump should be leading, not lying. We put safety first, drove down close calls, grew Air Traffic Control, and had zero commercial airline crash fatalities out of millions of flights on our watch. President Trump now oversees the military and the FAA. One of his first acts was to fire and suspend some of the key personnel who helped keep our skies safe.

The nonprofit Free Speech for People launched a petition on the day Trump returned to the White House calling on Congress to launch an impeachment investigation into alleged violations of the Emoluments Clauses that prohibit a president from profiting from the United States, individual states, or foreign governments, his "unlawful" and "corrupt" conduct during his campaign and his pardoning of those who took part in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The petition calling for the impeachment of Trump has already garnered more than 100,000 signatures just a few days into his second term.
Yesterday, the campaign added what it said were new grounds for an impeachment inquiry based on other actions Trump has taken since returning to office, including his executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship for certain children born in the U.S. It also alleges that Trump unlawfully fired inspector generals and members of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the National Labor Relations Board and is abusing his power to "seek retribution against perceived enemies."
It's time to impeach asshole Trump and remove him both from office and also physically from the "people's house."

Hold Trump to the fire, then oust his fat ass
Democratic strategist James Carville said, “I think when the history is recorded from the election day through today, the people that are really going to look bad are the people that say, ‘Well, look, this is not the end of the world. Let’s try to work with the guy,’ or ‘You’re overreacting to it. It’s Trump derangement syndrome.'”
The Democratic strategist then called out Democratic Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman as an example of the type of person who is failing to take the threat of Trump seriously enough. Fetterman was the first sitting Democratic senator known to have accepted an invitation from Trump to meet at Mar-a-Lago following the November election. They met days before Trump’s inauguration, with Fetterman saying the meeting “was a positive experience.” Fetterman has continued to break with the Democratic party over his support of many of Trump’s cabinet picks.
Carville also pointed to comedian Bill Maher, appearing to describe the comedian’s stance on Trump’s second term as being too “exhausted” for outrage against him. Maher recently told CNN host Jake Tapper that he’s “not going to chase every rabbit down the hole” as he did during Trump’s first term. This is a huge mistake, and is exactly what Trump is expecting.
Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez similarly expressed concern on a recent podcast about elites and cultural figures openly associating with Trump after shunning him during his first term.
We need to defy and resist Trump at every turn. Give him no wiggle room, no space whatsoever. We cannot let our guard down for even a second. Hold Trump accountable for every stupid, wrong, and illegal thing he does, and then publish it nationally so his MAGA Maggots can see what a worthless asshole he really is. We need to hang Trump, not pacify him, as the worthless Democrat weasels have done all along. We need to impeach Trump and then vote him out of the White House once and for all, and for good. Trump promised to "bring down the price of everything"
Trump is a f*cking LIAR, and his ignorant MAGA Maggot cult members believe him!
During his campaign for the presidency, idiot Trump repeatedly attacked Biden for the post-pandemic inflation that afflicted the country, and promised to bring down “the price of everything.” Surprise — once again, Trump LIED!
Trump also says he’s determined to keep the cost of living in check while at the same time pressuring the Federal Reserve Board to lower interest rates. But the Federal Reserve — which held interest rates steady at its meeting yesterday — seems committed to using elevated borrowing costs to keep a lid on inflation.
Trump pledged to increase oil production to reduce prices at the pump. But oil companies — which are at the mercy of global pricing — are generally only motivated to increase production when prices rise.
Trump is an ignorant fool who understands nothing about economics.
The biggest problem we have in America is not Trump, the convicted felon, but rather the legions of incredibly ignorant MAGA cult members (a.k.a. Trump followers) who listen only to Trump's far-right fascist bullshit and believe it. These are the extremely low-IQ people who are dragging down America.

She warned that he “lacks any relevant government, financial, management, or medical experience” and, calling him a “predator,” warned that he has “gone on to misrepresent, lie and cheat his way through life.”

The Twisted MAGA Mindset
I had a conversation yesterday with an acquaintance who is a hardcore MAGA Maggot. He is a member of an evangelical church I used to attend before I was aware of its political leaning toward the far-right Christian ideology — one which professes tolerance and acceptance and mercy and love and forgiveness — until, heaven forbid, someone who is gay, or transgender, or worst of all, a Democrat, appears on the scene. Then the truth is made poignantly clear, not by their words, but by their actions. Our conversation quickly became one-sided, with the MAGA Maggot getting louder and louder to drown out facts and reality and to parrot the MAGA line he's been brainwashed into believing.
The First Amendment of our Constitution is founded on the separation of church and state. Yet what I found is that there is no hate like Christian love. The pastor of the church ever so calculatingly and discreetly preached with a bias toward the political right, and his "flock" so blindly followed his lead, that the beliefs of a gullible congregation therefore followed his far-right political bias. After all, no one wants to question or challenge the pastor. Where was the separation of church and state? In the Bible, I Thessalonians 5:21 is very clear. It says, "test everything that is said." Yet too many today question nothing. They latch onto a pastor or some authority figure or, even worse, some far-right social media web sites, and their minds and their belief systems slowly but surely get indoctrinated and brainwashed. They become part of a filter bubble.
A filter bubble occurs when someone is only exposed to news that confirms his or her beliefs, or solely interacts with like-minded peers. Filter bubbles are unhealthy for both personal psychology and democracy/politics at large because they shut out alternative viewpoints, which ultimately inhibits nuanced thinking. When users do not see information, data or ideas that might challenge their existing views, their biases are confirmed. The result? A society where people only see one side, leading to a highly polarized political environment. As filter bubbles develop, we become confidently ignorant. We see this clearly in the MAGA movement and MAGA mentality.
For example, my acquaintance was adamant that Trump won both the electoral college and popular votes. That's a lie. Fact-checking proves that Trump lost the popular vote. But far-right web sites and social media will lie and report otherwise. When I professed that I have no respect whatsoever for Trump as my president, my acquaintance asked me why. I was quick to tell him that I could not vote for someone I didn't respect — a convicted felon, an adulterer who paid hush money to a porn actress, a man who failed at business so badly that he filed for bankruptcy six times, a lover of dictators, a traitor to our Constitution who initiated an insurrection against our Capitol that ended up killing five people and injuring 174 police officers, and the list goes on and on. He then told me that none of those things were proven — in other words, they were "fake news" — and if I didn't like it, I could move to a different country! The word "compromise" does not fit in with the MAGA movement. This is the MAGA mentality. There's no tolerance for a difference of opinion, even when it's FACT and not opinion at all. Our country has had different political parties since its inception. When one party loses, there has always been a peaceful transition of power, and the members of the party that loses don't move to a different country, as was suggested that I do.
The MAGA cult is filled with hate mongering, conspiracy theories, blatant lies, verbal bullying, racism, and just plain mean-spirited behavior. They learned it from Trump and his brainwashing. Trump's thinking is that is he tells a lie often enough, he can make his cult members believe it's the truth — and it's worked for him. How can any person with any integrity whatsoever want Trump in the White House? Social psychologists suggest an answer. The short version? Their analysis indicates Trump is not a politician and the MAGA movement is not a political party. Rather, Trump is the charismatic leader of a personality cult seeking to dominate and exploit its members for his own purposes using psychological manipulation, group-think and peer pressure designed to alienate and sometimes isolate members from those who are not true believers. This creates a closed feedback loop, a psychological echo chamber and house of mirrors. MAGA members are immersed in information praising them and their movement. No criticism of the cult gets in. Trump tells them what to believe, and there are no other voices saying otherwise. Essentially, it’s brainwashing.
Most MAGA cult members know little to nothing about Trump’s policy positions. Multiple interviews show, aside from a few campaign slogans, they are clueless. There’s no need to think for themselves because according to them, Trump has all the answers. So, many MAGA devotees who struggle financially fail to realize Trump’s economic plans will push them further into poverty.
Psychotherapist Philip Chard wrote, "Psychological studies indicate most MAGA adherents share certain personality traits. Among these is a high degree of “social dominance orientation,” meaning support for a social hierarchy in which their in-group (the cult) dominates all other out-groups. They prefer authoritarianism over democracy, harbor a strong sense of entitlement, engage in collective narcissism (“We’re the best”), exhibit an overactive fear response and suffer from 'high BS receptivity,' which is just like it sounds. Sadly, once in a cult, fractured relationships often follow."
Trump did not win the popular vote, but he came close. That means that nearly half of the voters in the United States are MAGA supporters. Therefore, nearly half of the people you encounter in church, at the store, and on the road are just plain ignorant. Remember, it was Trump himself who said, "I love the poorly educated."

Trump’s All-Out Assault on American Democracy Is Underway
It’s not every day that an insurrectionist felon, a sexual abuser, a white nationalist enabler, a racist, a demagogue, and a man described by his own aides as “fascist to his core” returns to the White House with broad immunity thanks to the US Supreme Court.
We must have a clear understanding of what is happening first so that we can bear witness to it, and second so that we have a road map as to how to undo the damage once Trump's regime ends — the fascist rituals, the corruption and grift, the nepotism, the ignoring of federal rules and regulations, and the all-out assault on basic democratic norms.
In 1838, at age 28, Abraham Lincoln warned that the destruction of the United States could come only from within. Lincoln wrote, "there is, even now, something of ill-omen, amongst us. I mean the increasing disregard for law which pervades the country; the growing disposition to substitute the wild and furious passions, in lieu of the sober judgment of Courts; and the worse than savage mobs, for the executive ministers of justice." The trouble Lincoln perceived stemmed from the growing lawlessness in the country as men ignored the rule of law and acted on their passions, imposing their will on their neighbors through violence. Lincoln saw it in 1838, and we're seeing it now, nearly 200 years later.
When a president pardons 1,500 violent insurrectionists who tried to overthrow the constitutional system of government, he needs to be removed from office. These people are not "patriots" or "hostages," as Trump, their cult leader, calls them. Both they and their felonous cult leader are white supremacist criminals who tried to decapitate America. For that they should be imprisoned.
Trump is the new Führer, but he will not be in the White House forever. His reign of terror will end. He will either finish out his term, die naturally in office, get impeached again, choke on a McDonald's burger, be declared incompetent by his own Congress, or get assassinated. Take your pick. Only then can democracy survive this assault, but democracy can't survive unless the Democratic Party gets it's lazy ass off the couch starting today and grooms a powerful and spotless candidate who can beat JD Vance in the voting booth in the 2028 election. It's never too early to start the process of vetting and grooming prospective Democratic candidates.
Today is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp. Six million Jewish people lost their lives in the Holocaust. Their stories remind us why we must all stand against regimes (read: MAGA) that embrace evil, hatred, contempt, and racism. The whole world should hear the words: Never again!

Trump is NOT God's chosen instrument to rescue America
This posting is, in part, a summarization of Peter Wehner's article in The Atlantic on Jan. 24.
In his inaugural address, Trump declared himself God’s chosen instrument to rescue America. He recalled the assassination attempt he survived last year: “I was saved by God to make America great again.” That's pure unadulterated bullshit.
We almost lost democracy on Jan. 6, 2021 during Trump's insurrection. On Jan. 20, 2025, at Trump's inauguration, we did lose it. Trump represents depravity and cultural decadence. Not a single area of Trump’s life is untouched by corruption — he is evil incarnate.
Trump won more than 80% of the white evangelical vote in 2024. Trump has a cultlike hold on great swaths of the evangelical movement. These duped MAGA zealots will stick with him regardless of what he does. The evangelicals have somehow made their peace with Trump's policies and appointments that would have once caused them to revolt. Evangelicals’ reverence for Trump is unlike anything Americans have ever seen. They have been deceived, defrauded, and tricked by Trump's narcissistic lies.
Mike Huckabee, a former Baptist minister who served as governor of Arkansas and has been selected by Trump to be the American ambassador to Israel, said of Trump’s victory, “This wasn’t a comeback. It was a resurrection, and it was a powerful one. He might be called President Lazarus after this.” Fealty has drifted toward idolatry. Parents who disapproved of their children saying “damn” are now enthralled by a man who says “motherfucker.”
Those who once championed modesty and a purity culture now celebrate a three-time-married serial adulterer who made hush-money payments to a porn actress. Churchgoers who can recite parts of the Sermon on the Mount are inspired by a convicted felon who, on the day he announced his candidacy for reelection, promised vengeance against his perceived enemies. Those who said a decent society has to stand for truth have embraced countless lies and conspiracy theories. Men and women who once stood for law and order have given their allegiance to a felon who issues pardons to rioters who have assaulted police officers.
A lot of evangelicals justify their embrace of Trump on biblical grounds. They insist that they are on God’s side, or perhaps that God is on their side. They tell themselves that they are being faithful disciples of Jesus, now more than ever. The story that many evangelicals today tell one another is that they are devoted followers of Christ, fighting satanic forces that are determined to destroy everything they know and love, and willing to stand in the breach for the man called by God to make America great again. This, too, is pure unadulterated bullshit.
Something, however, is amiss. Today the evangelical movement is an essential part of a much larger, and largely destructive, political and cultural movement. Evangelicalism has in many instances become more tribal, unforgiving, and cruel. There is no hate like Christian love. The world is noticing. Hitching the evangelical wagon to Trump has meant unhitching it from the life and teachings of Jesus. The gullible evangelicals have been duped, and it’s a bad trade.

It's time to impeach and remove Trump!
Last night the Republicans caved and the Senate confirmed former Fox News Channel weekend host Pete Hegseth as the defense secretary of the United States of America. Trump then immediately fired at least 15 independent inspectors general of U.S. government departments, including those from the departments of Defense, State, Transportation, Labor, Health and Human Services, Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Energy, Commerce, and Agriculture, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, Small Business Administration and the Social Security Administration — all part of Trump's Project 2025 plan. Trump said, incorrectly, that firing inspectors general is “a very standard thing to do.” It's not. In 2022, Congress amended the “Securing Inspector General Independence Act of 2022" law to require any president who sought to get rid of an inspector general to “communicate in writing the reasons for any such removal or transfer to both Houses of Congress, not later than 30 days before the removal or transfer.” It is time to impeach Trump for breaking the law and to remove him from office. The framers of the Constitution designed impeachment to enable Congress to remove a chief executive who deliberately breaks the law, believing that the determination of senators to hold onto their own power would keep them from allowing a president to seize more than the Constitution had assigned him.

Fight against Trump's Fascism
We’re well down the road to autocracy under Trump, the vindictive, convicted felon and fascist.
Trump has turned federal law enforcement into a goon squad with his gestapo raids on immigrants. Yesterday, in Chicago, Trump's goons tried to enter an elementary school — lots of dangerous illegals there among third-graders, we're sure. They were rightfully turned away. One day Trump's ICE goons will unexpectedly be outmanned and outgunned and they will be taken out back and, as Charlie Daniels' song, Simple Man, so articulately says, they'll "put an end to all that fast. You just take them rascals out in the swamp, put 'em on their knees and tie 'em to a stump. Let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest."
Ah, yes — good old highly effective Southern backcountry justice. Sounds like a great plan to us.
Trump is going after transgender Americans too. Dehumanizing minority groups is a key page in Trump's fascist playbook. Who's next on Trump's list? First it's immigrants, then transgenders, then gays, then women, then Democrats, then who? No one is safe from the convicted felon's vindictive attacks. You see, with Trump, it's not about "leading" America; it's all about "revenge."
Next, Trump will go after the media, as both Hitler and Orban did, in order to control the filth and the lies that he spews forth, and to limit citizens' alternatives to real news. It's right out of Hitler and Orban's playbooks — plain as day — sit idly by as they did in Orban's Hungary, and then watch the fascist right take over the media.
General Braxton Bragg was a Confederate general who fought to keep Black people in bondage. He was considered among the worst generals of the Civil War. In 2023 Fort Bragg was renamed Fort Liberty. Trump's MAGA politicians are now talking about bringing back the Bragg name. This would be a clear signal of Trump's intention to enforce white supremacy.
Billionaires like Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Sam Altman, Shou Zi Chew, and Sundar Pichai are flocking to Trump to kiss his ass, mimicking Putin’s oligarch system to reward or punish businesses based on their support or opposition. It's all about grabbing power at the expense of the common citizens. Hitler did the same thing during WWII. Noted historian Heather Cox Richardson explained it best. She said that Hitler insisted that "an elite few must lead, taking a nation forward by directing the actions of the rest. They organized the people as if they were at war, ruthlessly suppressing all opposition and directing the economy so that business and politicians worked together to consolidate their power. Logically, that select group of leaders would elevate a single man, who would become an all-powerful dictator. To weld their followers into an efficient machine, fascists demonized opponents into an “other” that their followers could hate, dividing their population so they could control it."
That was Hitler's plan, and now it's Trump's plan.
Resist Trump and his fascist plans at every turn. Tie up his plans in court, as he did to the Democrats during the last four years. Use Trump's own tactics against him, namely cause every delay possible to Trump's evil plans.

Trump: Vindictive leader of the Goon Squad
Trump has only one thing on his mind: political revenge. Trump's a felon, a goon, a bully, a liar, a white supremacist, a domestic terrorist, and a dictator.
On Jan. 6, 2021, Trump's rioters wounded more than 140 officers with firearms, stun guns, flagpoles, fire extinguishers, bike racks, batons, a metal whip, office furniture, pepper spray, bear spray, a tomahawk ax, a hatchet, a hockey stick, knuckle gloves, a baseball bat, a massive ‘Trump’ billboard, ‘Trump’ flags, a pitchfork, pieces of lumber, crutches and even an explosive device, and yet Trump has let these seditious terrorists out of jail while rounding up and deporting immigrants who work hard and pay taxes. U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly summed it up when she wrote: “Dismissal of charges, pardons after convictions, and commutations of sentences will not change the truth of what happened on January 6, 2021. What occurred that day is preserved for the future through thousands of contemporaneous videos, transcripts of trials, jury verdicts, and judicial opinions analyzing and recounting the evidence through a neutral lens. Those records are immutable and represent the truth, no matter how the events of January 6 are described by those charged or their allies.”
Enrique Tarrio of the Pansy Boys (a.k.a. Proud Boys) called in to conspiracy-theorist Alex Jones’s Infowars within hours of his release to claim that he still commands the gang and that he plans retribution for those who put him behind bars.
Stewart Rhodes of Oath Keepers, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison and then pardoned by Trump, also stated he wants revenge.
Politico’s Charlie Mahtesian reported that those January 6 rioters who Trump pardoned are already talking about running for office. All of these pigs must be exposed and crushed at every level. They are a cancer to America and to our democracy, and cancer must be eradicated.
The Republican-led Congress has now become a worthless branch of the twisted MAGA cult, along with the Supreme Court, surrendering their power to Trump, the dictator, and turning them into nothing more than mouthpieces of the dictator.
We must all remain loud and engaged. Demand fair elections, and do your research on every candidate before you vote — even your neighborhood candidates for school boards and local commissions. Call Trump's MAGA Maggots what they are: ignorant insurrectionists and traitors to America. Take to the streets in mass peaceful protests. Resist Trump at every opportunity you can, in every conversation, with every person you meet. Educate your friends and family about Trump, the felonous traitor, domestic terrorist, and vindictive dictator.

Trump is the cult leader of criminals
"F*ck it: Release 'em all." Those were the words of Degenerate Trump as he decided to pardon the sentences of all 1,500 of the January 6 rioters, who he referred to as "patriots" and "hostages," and commute the sentences of 14 others. Those were the words of the MAGA Maggots' cult leader and new president, as reported by Marc Caputo of Axios.
The rioters were neither "patriots" nor "hostages." They were felonous, insurrectionist traitors to America — as is Trump, their cult leader. These rioters who attacked police with bear spray, flag poles, a metal whip, and choked officers with their bare hands, are now back on the streets because of Trump. They were responsible for the deaths of five and for injuring 174 police officers — but Trump calls them "patriots." One of the pardoned insurrectionists is already back in prison on a gun charge.
Is Trump bipolar, mentally retarded, cognitively deficient, or just plain evil? Who knows? One thing we do know for sure: Trump is a mentally deranged lunatic.
Trump's move to "go big" on the pardons sheds light on his erratic and unpredictable decision-making process, and shows his determination to fulfill a campaign promise to his ignorant MAGA base — regardless of political fallout. Remember, Trump loves the poorly educated. But remember, Trump has no problem backpedaling on his promises to law-abiding Americans. He's already walked back on his campaign promise of lowering food prices.
Many of the Republicans in Congress grimaced at the appearance of Trump condoning violence against police officers. Included in Trump's pardons and commutations were Enrique Tarrio, former leader of the Pansy Boys (a.k.a. Proud Boys), Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oath Keepers, Kelly Meggs, Oath Keepers leader, and Meggs' wife Connie, also a Jan. 6th rioter.

That's right. Trump, the convicted felon, pardoned Jacob Chansley, the QAnon Shaman, another felon who was the spear-wielding, bare-chested Jan. 6 rioter — one of the first MAGA Maggots (a.k.a. Trump supporters) to descend on the Capitol building on January 6, 2021, in an attempt to overturn Trump’s 2020 election defeat to Joe Biden.
In November 2021, Chansley pleaded guilty to a felony charge of obstructing an official and was ordered to serve 41 months in prison — one of the longest sentences received by a rioter — but was released after 27 months in May 2023.
After hearing of his pardon, Chansley said he plans to “buy some motha f*ckin’ guns” in order to celebrate his freedom. Chandler told The Independent, "My spirit is free, I was born to be wild and I am gonna travel around the country now that I finally can!” We can't help but wonder how long he'll last out in the wild, out of his pig pen.

Earlier this month, many Republican lawmakers suggested they would not support pardons for those who committed violence against police officers, and on January 12, 2025, then vice president–elect J.D. Vance told Fox News Sunday that “if you committed violence on that day, obviously you shouldn’t be pardoned.” Even MAGA senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) said it was unacceptable to pardon people who assaulted police officers. Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) both criticized the pardons. The D.C. Police Union stated that “anyone who assaults a law enforcement officer should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, without exception.”

He's already walked back on his campaign promise of lowering food prices.
His henchman and new Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said that what Trump really meant was that the war in Ukraine needs to come to an end, and not that Trump would end it on Day 1 (which is what Trump said and which is another of his lies).
Trump pardoned Ross Ulbricht, who founded and ran an online criminal marketplace called Silk Road from January 2011 to October 2013, where more than $200 million in illegal drugs and other illicit goods and services, such as computer hacking, were bought and sold with cryptocurrency. During his presidential campaign, Trump promised to pardon Ulbricht in order to court the votes of libertarians, who support drug legalization.
Trump wants to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. He also wants to take back the Panama Canal and take over Greenland. He wants to change the name of Denali, the tallest peak in North America, back to Mount McKinley, after the president who was known for his tariffs and who was assassinated in 1901.
Trump is determined that white men dominate the United States, and that he will dominate these white men. In an executive order he issued last night titled “Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship,” Trump sought to overturn the U.S. Constitution and its consistent interpretation. He wants the power to decide who can be considered a citizen, and he apparently wants to force the U.S. Supreme Court to give him that power. The Fourteenth Amendment provides that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside,” making it clear that being born in the United States makes someone a United States citizen. Trump wants the Supreme Court to award him the power to override the Constitution on birthright citizenship.
As Will Bunch of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote, Trump’s first day on the job was “a dangerous display of rapid mental decline.” Bunch recorded Trump’s slurred speech, rambling, and nonsensical off-the-cuff speeches and said that his “biggest takeaway from a day that some have anticipated and many have dreaded for the last four years is seeing how rapidly the oldest new president in America is declining right in front of us.”
How long will it be before Trump issues a command without Congressional approval that would take America into war, and his so-called "loyalists" refuse to obey his command? What will happen then? Will Trump try to call in the national guard or the military, and will they obey his order? Will civil war break out? Will citizens rush the White House to remove Trump?
Maybe the obvious will become clear, even to Trump's MAGA Maggots in Congress, and they'll invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment and declare Trump mentally unfit for office — which they should have done during his first term — and have him removed. Will he leave? He's already stated that he may try to stay on past his second term. More than 230 doctors have already said Trump is showing signs of cognitive decline and is too unstable to serve.
Maybe he'll die in office, either naturally, from some disease (after all, he's never released his medical records), or resign in disgrace like Nixon (highly unlikely for a malignant narcissist), or from another assassination attempt. No one knows. In any event, Trump will be gone in less than four years — nothing more than an unfortunate speed bump in the history of the United States, like a forgotten pimple on your nose.

It only took a few hours after he was sworn in before the vindictive anarchist-in-chief pardoned his fellow anarchists and insurgents who took part in his insurrection and stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 in his failed attempt to stop the congressional certification of Democrat Joe Biden's 2020 election victory.
A mob of thousands of MAGA Maggots descended on the Capitol in 2021 following an incendiary speech by Trump, tearing down barricades, fighting police and sending lawmakers and Trump's vice president Mike Pence running for their lives. Five people died and 174 police officers were injured in Trump's insurrection.
"We're going to release our great hostages that didn't do — for the most part — they didn't do stuff wrong," Trump, the convicted felon, said. He has frequently referred to Capitol riot defendants as "hostages" even though they have been subject to the normal criminal process and many have admitted to or been found guilty of criminal offenses.
The felonous traitor is trying to change history and absolve himself of his traitorous actions through lies and fake news, but it's not going to happen. We in the free press will ensure Trump goes down in history as the failure that he is.
Trump pardoned roughly 1,500 people related to January 6 offenses, fulfilling a campaign promise to wipe clean the records of most of the criminals connected with the Capitol riot, in spite of the fact that about two thirds of those charged with federal crimes had pleaded guilty as of this month.
Trump's action included six commutations in the pardon package so that their cases could be studied further. Among those whose sentences were commuted were the leaders of the far-right Oath Keepers and Proud Boys (a.k.a. Pansy Boys), who had been charged with seditious conspiracy. Members of the far-right paramilitary organization the Pansy Boys marched through the capital carrying a banner that read “Congratulations President Trump” and chanting: “Whose streets? Our streets!”
Walter Schaub, former head of the Office of Government Ethics under Trump in his first administration, wrote to CNN: “America voted for corruption, and that’s what Trump is delivering." Actually, only the ignorant, uninformed, and low-IQ MAGA Maggots voted for Trump.

Trump is vowing to unleash “shock and awe” in the first days of his presidency, a worn-out phrase the pathetic copycat also stole from the second Iraq war. The Wall Street Journal reported that more than 60% oppose Trump’s plan to replace nonpartisan civil servants with loyalists. More than 60% also oppose Trump’s plan to eliminate the Department of Education. Almost 75% of voters oppose his plans for sweeping deportation raids. More than two thirds oppose calls to take control of Greenland, and 54% oppose his choices for cabinet positions. Trump, the MAGA cult leader, does not have the support of the mainstream of America. For the last 25 years, C-SPAN has conducted a survey of historians on presidential leadership each time there has been a change of administrations. When he left office in 2021, Trump was ranked as the worst president in 150 years by over 140 historians!

Last night, President Biden began his farewell address by reiterating that his negotiators had reached a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas. Let it be known, Americans, that incoming president-elect Trump, the liar and felon, has already tried to take credit for the deal, and so Biden appropriately announced: “This plan was developed and negotiated by my team. And it will be largely implemented by the incoming administration. That’s why I told my team to keep the incoming administration fully informed. Because that’s how it should be. Working together as Americans.”
Biden began his speech saying, “Good afternoon. And it’s a very good afternoon, because at long last I can announce a ceasefire and a hostage deal has been reached between Israel and Hamas. [After] more than 15 months of conflict that began with [Hamas’s] brutal massacre of October the seventh, more than 15 months of terror for the hostages, their families, the Israeli people, more than fifteen months of suffering by the innocent people in Gaza, fighting in Gaza will stop and soon the hostages will return home to their families.” Biden noted that he has worked in foreign policy for decades and that “[t]his is one of the toughest negotiations I’ve ever experienced.”
In his farewell address to the nation, President Biden also reminded Americans that his administration has created nearly 17 million new jobs — more than any other single administration in a single term. More people have healthcare than ever before. And overseas, we’ve strengthened NATO.

Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation, enabling the abuse of power. The free press is crumbling [or] disappearing. Social media is giving up on fact checking. The truth is smothered by lies told for power and for profit.”
We are certainly now seeing younger millionaires and billionaires (e.g. Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos, etc.), those who see their own MAGA future after an 80-year-old Trump dies, kneeling down to kiss Trump's ring (and his fat ass) in an attempt to buy positions and influence to gain Trump's current favor for obtaining power and profit. And Trump, the money-grabbing traitor, is only too willing (and too stupid) to be suckered in.
Biden called for ethics rules and an 18-year term limit for Supreme Court justices, and for banning members of Congress from trading stock. He also called for a constitutional amendment to make it clear that no president is immune from crimes they commit in office. “The president’s power is not unlimited,” he said. “It’s not absolute.”
Let it be clearly known that Trump gets NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for this cease-fire deal, although he will assuredly try to "steal the deal."

Hegseth is clearly unqualified!
Pete Hegseth, felonous Trump's personal pick for Secretary of Defense, is unqualified for the position for any number of reasons. Hegseth appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday to answer questions about his nomination.
Hegseth conceded up front that his background is far from a conventional one for a Secretary of Defense. Ya think?
Hegseth tried to frame his lack of qualifications as a qualification — much like Trump himself — with those lack of qualifications sadly trickling downward. A lack of qualifications is not a strength. Hegseth has a history of alcohol abuse and showing up drunk to work, sexually assaulting women and mistreating female colleagues.
Jonathan Chait of The Atlantic did a deep dive into Hegseth’s recent books and said that Hegseth “considers himself to be at war with basically everybody to Trump’s left, and it is by no means clear that he means war metaphorically.” Hegseth’s books suggest he thinks that everything that does not support the MAGA worldview is “Marxist,” including voters choosing Democrats at the voting booth. He calls for the “categorical defeat of the Left” and says that without its “utter annihilation,” “America cannot, and will not, survive.” When Hegseth was in the Army National Guard, a fellow service member who was the unit’s security guard and on an anti-terrorism team flagged Hegseth to their unit’s leadership because one of his tattoos is used by white supremacists. Hegseth is a fascist.
The top Democrat on the committee, Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) said he did not believe Hegseth was qualified for the position. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) exposed his lack of knowledge about U.S. allies and bluntly told him he was unqualified. Hegseth told the Armed Services Committee that all the negative information about him was part of a “smear campaign.” Where have we heard that lie before?
Nonetheless, the Senate will confirm Hegseth because Republican senators have either actively embraced the cult of unqualified authenticity or because these Trump ass-kissers consider Trump’s reelection as validating it for his nominees. And it will confirm him because Republicans don’t care if Hegseth is a sexual abuser, a sexual harasser, or an alcoholic. Republican senators clearly don’t mind voting for a man who is proudly unqualified to run one of the world’s largest and most far-flung bureaucracies, and they don’t even seem to mind voting for such a man knowing that he has lied to them about his sexual activities, his drinking, and his treatment of female colleagues — after all they learned everything they need to learn about lying by watching Trump, their cult leader.

Shortly after midnight last night, the Justice Department released special counsel Jack Smith’s final report on convicted felon Trump’s attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. The 137-page report concludes that “substantial evidence demonstrates that Mr. Trump…engaged in an unprecedented criminal effort to overturn the legitimate results of the election in order to retain power.”
Evidence proved Trump broke laws, and how Trump enjoyed immunity from prosecution for breaking laws.
The report explains how Trump lied that he won the 2020 presidential election and he continued to lie even when his own appointees and employees told him he had lost. It lays out how he pressured state officials to throw out votes for Joe Biden, and how he and his cronies recruited false electors in key states Trump lost to create slates of false electoral votes.
The Justice Department concluded that Trump was guilty on four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States by trying “to interfere with or obstruct one of its lawful governmental functions by deceit, craft or trickery, or at least by means that are dishonest”; obstruction and conspiracy to obstruct by creating false evidence; and conspiracy against rights by trying to take away people’s right to vote for president.
By the sheer power of repeating the lie that he had won and getting his cronies to repeat it, along with embellishments that were also lies—about suitcases of ballots, and thumb drives, and voting machines, and so on—Trump induced his followers to try to overthrow a free and fair election and install him in the presidency. Trump continued this disinformation after he left office.

HuffPost reported that Trump lashed out at “incompetent” politicians on the ground in California who are dealing with the massive, deadly wildfires, even as Trump has yet to take up California Governor Newsom's invitation to survey the damage himself.
Governor Newsom said, “He’s an incoming American president. I would expect any leader of the free world, the most powerful person in the United States of America, to respect the pleas of 40 million Americans that happen to live in the state of California ... to be here for the American people at a time of emergency and a time of recovery.”
But nope, instead of heading to California, the incompetent convicted felon renewed his attacks on local leaders on his social media platform. “They just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?” Trump asked. Maybe if Trump got off his overly fat ass and flew out to California, he'd see firsthand why they can't just put the fires out. Proving his incredible ignorance, Trump reposted a meme depicting the Hollywood Hills ablaze, with the iconic “Hollywood” sign replaced by the words “Trump Was Right.” Trump accused Governor Newsom of refusing to sign a “water restoration declaration” ― a document that does not exist, according to fact-checkers.

Trump wants a "kingdom," not a "democracy"
Trump, the CONVICTED FELON, is gearing up to execute on a wide-ranging legislative agenda touching on everything from taxes to immigration to fossil fuels, and he wants to do it in a "reconciliation bill" that he calls "one big, beautiful bill," he told radio host Hugh Hewitt yesterday.
Passing legislation via the reconciliation process would require a simple majority in both chambers of Congress, meaning Republicans would not require any Democratic support to get what they want, but everything included must affect spending or revenue levels. A restriction called the Byrd rule says that policies included in a budget reconciliation package aren’t supposed to affect Social Security or add to the deficit after 10 years. Any bets as to whether Trump will find a way around this restriction to push through his evil agenda?
Under Trump's administration in 2017, Republicans similarly advanced the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act using this reconciliation process, and will likely look to extend those tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy in their upcoming package. Trump wants lawmakers to include his proposal to exempt tip income from taxes. He said some of the package’s costs would be paid for with new import tariffs (a.k.a. tariffs = higher prices paid by Americans). Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act gave corporations a massive tax cut (from 35 percent to 20 percent) and made cuts to health care, leaving 13 million fewer Americans insured over the next decade. This is Trump's way of doing business and screwing the working middle class. Measured by any standard, Trump is an unqualified asshole.

Defiant Republicans refuse to accept the voters' elected representatives
We're talking about red-state North Carolina, folks — the MAGA fascists in North Carolina want to steal America's democracy through an illegal power grab! You see, this is what Trump has taught everyone, namely that voters' choices in the election booth don't matter and that you can alter reality with lies.
Noted historian Heather Cox Richardson summarized it best in her must-read substack. Voters in North Carolina elected Democrat Josh Stein for governor and current Democratic representative Jeff Jackson as attorney general, and they broke the Republicans’ legislative supermajority that permitted them to pass laws over the veto of the current governor, Democrat Roy Cooper. They also reelected Justice Allison Riggs, a Democrat, to the state supreme court. As MSNBC so articulately stated, Trump is the rot at the center of North Carolina's Supreme Court fight, where the Republican loser is asking the Republican-dominated Supreme Court to name him the winner by changing the law about whose votes are counted and whose aren't.
Republicans in North Carolina continue to refuse to accept the voters’ choices, ten weeks after the election. Republican legislators passed a law, SB382, which radically changes the way the state conducts elections, giving a newly elected Republican state auditor power over the state’s election board and shortening the amount of time available for the counting of votes and for voters to fix issues on flagged ballots. SB382 violates the separation of powers written into North Carolina’s constitution.
Since 2010 the Republican Party in North Carolina has been redrawing voting district maps to favor Republicans and make it more difficult for voters to vote. The courts found those maps unconstitutional because of racial bias and skewed representation. In late 2019 a state appeals court agreed that the maps violated the constitution’s guarantee of free elections. A majority on the state supreme court agreed.
So let's break this down to the lowest common denominator so it's easy to understand — Republicans are trying to push Trump's right-wing policies to stop Democrats from voting. Period.
In the United States today, a political minority has used the mechanics of government to take power and is now using that power to impose its will on the majority. That pattern is exactly that of the elite southern enslavers who in the 1850s first took over the Democratic Party and then, through it, captured the Senate, the Supreme Court, and the White House and tried to take over the country. The focus on preserving power in the states to keep political and economic power in the hands of a minority is a key element today.
When a Republican in charge of North Carolina's redistricting constructs a map based on his idea that “electing Republicans is better than electing Democrats,” and when a Republican candidate calls for throwing out the votes of 60,000 voters to declare victory in an election he lost, as is also currently happening in North Carolina, they have abandoned the principles of democracy in favor of a one-party state that will operate in their favor alone.

Trump, convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records in his election interference case, went before the judge today to be "sentenced" and forever labeled as the FELONOUS TRAITOR that he is. Prosecutors said Stormy Daniels, the porn actress with whom Trump carried on an illicit affair, was paid off as part of a wider effort to keep voters from hearing about Trump’s extramarital escapades. Trump was a private citizen, just like the rest of us, when Daniels was paid in 2016, yet he has been trying to claim presidential immunity. Trump is the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes. The sentence comes too late and without teeth, but Trump will nonetheless be forever known in history as a FELON, a LOSER.
The judge has indicated that he plans the unconditional discharge — a rarity in felony convictions — partly to avoid complicated constitutional issues that would arise if he imposed a penalty that overlapped with Trump’s presidency.
A jury of his peers convicted Trump, and the public expects that no one is above the law. Trump has proven that he, in fact, is above the law. We strongly disagree with the unconditional discharge. Trump belongs in Rikers Island prison. Period.

President Biden assists the forest fire fighters while Trump blames Newsom for the fires
Once again, Asshole Trump, the CONVICTED FELON, is name-calling and playing the blame game instead of helping Americans in need, while President Joe Biden is supporting state and local responses to the California forest fire with federal resources. Incompetent and incapable Trump is resorting to calling the California governor names and blaming the governor's Los Angeles crew for the fires by using outright lies. Trump posted: “Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way.”
Newsom’s office responded: “There is no such document as the water restoration declaration—that is pure fiction. The Governor is focused on protecting people, not playing politics, and making sure firefighters have all the resources they need.”
Trump is a cheap LIAR and has once again proven his ignorance.
Los Angeles water doesn’t come from northern California, but Trump is too stupid to know this. It comes from an aqueduct east of the Sierra Nevada, from groundwater, and from the Colorado River. Right now, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California has more water stored than it has ever had before, according to Mark Gold, a board member. “It’s not a matter of having enough water coming from Northern California to put out a fire,” he told Alastair Bland of CalMatters. “It’s about the continued devastating impacts of a changing climate.” Hydroclimatologist Peter Gleick told Taryn Luna, Liam Dillon, and Alex Wigglesworth of the Los Angeles Times that Trump’s linking of water policy to the raging fires was “blatantly false, irresponsible and politically self-serving.” Trump refuses to believe the proven science of climate change. The wildfires are the result of an unheard-of combination of factors at this time of year — the worst high wind event in Southern California since 2011, plus some of the driest conditions on record for early January — in other words, they're caused by climate change.
While President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris are working to solve problems for Americans affected by the wildfires, Trump has simply gone on the offensive, attacking Democrats for what he claims is their mismanagement without offering any ideas of his own. Trump is too stupid to even have a clue or a plan — he is only capable of casting blame.

The FACTS: No U.S. troops are fighting in foreign wars, murders have plummeted, deaths from drug overdoses have dropped sharply, undocumented immigration is below where it was when Trump left office, stocks have just had their best two years since the last century. The economy is growing, real wages are rising, inflation has fallen to close to its normal range, unemployment is at near-historic lows, and energy production is at historic highs. The economy has added more than 700,000 manufacturing jobs among the 16 million total created since 2020. Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody's Analytics, said, "Trump is inheriting an economy that is about as good as it ever gets. Pick your economic statistic — from real GDP, to job growth, to unemployment — the economy’s performance has been nothing short of exceptional.”
Although he will certainly try, Trump can't take credit for any of it.

Today is the 4th anniversary of Trump's attack on our nation's Capitol, and he is about to return to the same White House he left with his tail between his legs in utter disgrace. And he has promised not only to pardon those prosecuted for taking part in his Jan. 6 attack but to prosecute those who tried to hold him and his followers to account. Trump is all about retribution and vengeance.
Trump, however, can't pardon himself from being a FELON under state laws. It's an indelible "F" — it won't ever go away — nor should it!
Trump’s conviction is for criminally manipulating the 2016 election — illegal election interference! You can believe your own eyes or Trump's lies. We choose to believe the coup incited by Trump that we actually saw and heard with our own eyes on Jan. 6, 2021, and not Trump's incessant lies about it being a peaceful protest that his incredibly ignorant MAGA Maggots have been brainwashed into believing. Rather than being a brilliant politician or businessman, Trump is actually one of this century’s most successful con-men and grifters — and our media’s greatest failure is to acknowledge or even tangentially reference this fact.
Last night Trump held a party at Mar-a-Lago to celebrate those who tried to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. He has called the January 6 rioters “patriots” and promised to pardon those who have been convicted of crimes in relation to the event as soon as he takes office. TRUMP IS A TRAITOR TO AMERICA. He should be imprisoned along with his rioters. Instead, ignorant MAGA voters are rewarding him with the White House and an ass-kissing judge is about to let him get away without penalty for the 34 felonies of which he was convicted.
So what have we got with Trump? Minimally, an incessant liar. Trump ran on lowering grocery prices, for example, telling a rally in August, “From the day I take the oath of office, we will rapidly drive prices down and make America affordable again. … You just watch. They’ll come down fast.” Now, however, he says he won’t even bother because, as he told TIME magazine, “It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard.” Let's call Trump what he is — an INCESSANT LIAR.
In 2016 Trump promised to raise taxes on the rich so much that his wealthy friends would hate him, to replace Obamacare with a national healthcare system, to support unions and the environment, etc.; they all turned out to be more of Trump's naked lies.
As the brilliant investigative reporter David Cay Johnston, winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for beat reporting, who referred to Trump as “the greatest con artist in the history of the world,” said, “You’ve got to stop covering him like he’s just another politician, with a different agenda. He’s a criminal and a con artist. And that has to be central to everything you cover about him.” And now he's a FELON, convicted by a jury of his peers on 34 separate counts. We all have the responsibility of pointing it out when media agencies “sanewash” or otherwise sugar-coat Trump’s lies and anti-democracy actions. Washington Post cartoonist resigns over censorship
FREE PRESS equals a STRONG DEMOCRACY, and that includes political cartoons.
Ann Telnaes, an editorial cartoonist at the Washington Post since 2008, posted a message Friday on the online platform Substack saying that she drew a cartoon showing a group of media executives bowing before Trump while offering him bags of money, including Washington Post owner and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Telnaes wrote that the cartoon was intended to criticize “billionaire tech and media chief executives who have been doing their best to curry favor with incoming President-elect Trump.” Several executives, Bezos among them, have been spotted at Trump’s Florida club Mar-a-Lago. She accused them of having lucrative government contracts and working to eliminate regulations. Telnaes said that "owners of such press organizations are responsible for safeguarding that free press — and trying to get in the good graces of an autocrat-in-waiting will only result in undermining that free press."
Telnaes said that she’s never before had a cartoon rejected because of its inherent messaging and that such a move is dangerous for a free press. She also said that she will not stop holding truth to power through her cartooning, because as they say "Democracy dies in darkness.”

We have a new Congress 👎
Members of the new 119th Congress were sworn in yesterday.
Republicans took control of both chambers of Congress: the House of Representatives and the Senate. In the House, Republicans will hold 219 seats to the Democrats' 215.
Christians will make up 87% of voting members in the Senate and House of Representatives, combined, in the new 2025-27 congressional session. That’s down from 88% in the last session and 92% a decade ago. Not surprisingly for the Republicans, there are fewer women in the 119th Congress than in the previous one, and there will be no women chairing committees in the Republican-dominated House.
In the first ballot of the new Congress, all 215 Democrats voted for Democratic minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) for Speaker, which was a dramatic rejection not only of Mike Johnson, but also of Trump, the convicted felon, and leaving Johnson two votes short of the number needed from within his own party to run the House. The Democrats were not divided, but the Republicans were!
Johnson then went into his office with eight members of the far-right Freedom Caucus, while Trump and incoming chief of staff Susie Wiles called the holdouts. When they emerged, two of the members who had voted for people other than Johnson switched their vote to him, giving him the votes he needed to become the speaker of the 119th Congress. Who kissed whose ass in that meeting?
As soon as Johnson was elected, eleven far-right MAGA Republicans sent a letter to their colleagues saying they had voted for Johnson because they wanted to make sure they didn’t mess up the January 6 counting of Trump’s electoral votes. They said they voted for Johnson despite their sincere reservation regarding his track record over the past 15 months.
So Johnson is speaker again, but he’s already caught between the worthless MAGAs demanding significant budget cuts and the Democrats’ promise to call attention to every one of those cuts, such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans benefits in order to pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires and wealthy corporations.

New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan ruled today that Trump would be sentenced on January 10. Cowardice Merchan shared that he had no plans to sentence Trump to jail time.
Merchan shared that he would likely sentence Trump to an “unconditional discharge." This is a sentence without any consequences. Convicted by a jury of his peers on 34 felony counts, and Trump has no consequences for his actions — no prison time and no fines!

Yesterday, President Joe Biden issued a statement marking the day that the new, lower cap on seniors’ out-of-pocket spending on prescription drugs goes into effect. The Inflation Reduction Act, negotiated over two years and passed with Democratic votes alone, enabled the government to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies over drug prices and phased in out-of-pocket spending caps for seniors. In 2024 the cap was $3,400; it’s now $2,000.
Before Biden took office, people with Medicare who took expensive drugs could face a crushing burden, paying $10,000 a year or more in copays for the drugs they need to stay alive. Biden took on Big Pharma and won, capping seniors’ out-of-pocket spending on drugs they get at the pharmacy for the first time ever. Costs were capped at about $3,500 in 2024, and in just the first six months of the year, this policy saved people with Medicare $1 billion in cost-sharing. On January 1, 2025, the cap on drug costs fully phases in, and costs are now capped at $2,000 per year.
